ABOUT KARINA
Karina Machado is a journalist and author of the non-fiction series Spirit Sisters, Where Spirits Dwell and Love Never Dies. Karina was born in Uruguay and was 2 when her family immigrated to Australia, where she grew up hearing stories of her mum’s psychic gift, igniting a life-long curiosity about marvel, mysteries and the unseen world.
Always passionate about books and writing, Karina began her career in journalism as editorial assistant at TIME magazine, and is a former senior editor at Who magazine. Her books are available in audio format on Audible—all narrated by Karina—and she is exploring opportunities to publish them in Latin America and Spanish-speaking countries. A podcast celebrating the 10th-anniversary of the publication of her debut book, Spirit Sisters, launched successfully in 2019, followed by another podcast, The Ghost Files.
In 2023, Karina had a life-changing experience walking almost 800 km from France to Spain along the Camino de Santiago. When her pilgrimage ended in Santiago de Compostela, Karina visited the nearby village where her great-grandmother, Manuela, was born and raised before making the momentous journey across the Atlantic towards a new life in Uruguay in 1911.
Inspired by Manuela’s journey—and her own—Karina is currently working on her debut novel.
